What are the best hikes near downtown Aspen, CO?

Birdie and Goose have hiked every one of these, and their honest opinion: Smuggler Mountain is the crowd-pleaser (locals do it on lunch breaks), Ute Trail is the one that'll actually earn you that gondola ride down, Hunter Creek offers beautiful views, Marolt has a lovely swimming area for doggos, Conundrum is a little out of town with spectacular views (its out and back, you can go as long as you like and then return), and Rio Grande Trail is where you go when you'd rather stroll than sweat. Most of these start within walking distance of downtown — no shuttle or long drive required. Bring water, and remember Aspen sits at nearly 8,000 feet, so pace yourself more than you would at home.
